March 8, 2024
At Admiral's Pointe, we're thrilled to recognize our Rehab Director and Occupational Therapist, Kirsten Wengerd, as March's Focus on BRR (Broad River Therapy) Champion. Kirsten's dedication to enhancing residents' quality of life is truly commendable. Collaborating closely with her interdisciplinary team and MDS Coordinator, RN Kelsey Dircks, Kirsten spearheaded an initiative aimed at reducing antipsychotic medication use within our facility.
Employing a holistic approach to occupational therapy, Kirsten tailored individualized plans of care for each resident, addressing behavioral management through various activities of daily living. Leveraging resources from our Focus on Sleep, Focus on Continence Management, and Focus on Pain programs, Kirsten ensured comprehensive support for residents' needs.
Since the implementation of this program, we're delighted to report a remarkable 20% reduction in antipsychotic medication utilization. This achievement reflects Kirsten's innovative strategies and the dedication of the entire Admiral's Pointe team to prioritize resident well-being.
Therapy plays a crucial role in promoting residents' physical and mental health in nursing home settings.
Kirsten's success underscores the importance of personalized, holistic approaches to therapy, ensuring that residents receive the comprehensive care they deserve. Congratulations, Kirsten, on this well-deserved recognition!
